The Beginning: Meeting at Church

Rob and Isabel first met at Christian Assembly Church. Isabel was serving in the choir and as a greeter and Rob was a familiar face in a chef uniform and a regular attendee. Over time, their paths crossed often enough that their faces became familiar. Eventually, Rob began leading a life group—and Isabel joined. That’s where their friendship grew into something more.

The Ask: More Than Friends

Isabel always found herself drawn to moments with Rob—whether it was asking him to “install her car alarm,” showing up early to help with his movie nights, lending a hand in the kitchen for church dinners, or faithfully attending every life group. Each little excuse was really just a way to be near him. One evening after service, she asked to walk with him to his car. Beneath the glow of the streetlights, Isabel finally shared what had been in her heart: she saw him as more than a friend. Rob smiled—because he felt the same.

The Romance: Growing Together

As Rob and Isabel began their relationship, they quickly discovered how much they had in common—whether it was their love for nature, their care for animals, or simply the joy of spending time together. But what truly bound them was something deeper: the way each saw the other’s love for God. Their shared faith and values became the foundation of their journey. And though there have been both ups and downs along the way, their relationship has always persevered. Time and again, they have chosen one another—not only in the bright and joyful moments, but especially in the stormy and difficult ones. For Rob and Isabel, love has never been just a feeling, but a choice they continue to make each day.

The Proposal: Scavenger Hunt of Love

Rob had been dreaming of how he wanted to ask Isabel to marry him. He reflected on the perfect day to propose—Isabel’s birthday—and the perfect place—Disneyland, a spot full of joy and memories. With help from his friends at Disney Imagineering, Rob set up an extravagant scavenger hunt (aided by eager Disney cast members) that would lead Isabel through her favorite places in the park. To Rob’s delight, Isabel had a work conference right across the street from Disneyland that very morning—an unexpected blessing that gave him the perfect opportunity to set everything up. Rob saw this as God’s hand at work, orchestrating the date, the location, and even the timing of the proposal to make their day truly unforgettable. He made sure Isabel was prepared for the special day, treating her to get her nails done and offering to drive her to her meeting. Before she got out of the car, he handed her the first clue, telling her it was from Mickey Mouse and that she should open it before walking inside. While Isabel attended her conference, Rob rushed around Disneyland, delivering envelopes to cast members at each location. Nervous but excited, he was ready by the time Isabel called to say she was on her way. Together, they began the adventure. The first stop: Isabel’s favorite ride, Davy Crockett’s Canoes. From there, the next clue led to her favorite dining spot, Bengal Barbecue, where she enjoyed her favorite meal and drink—unaware that this would be her final meal before saying yes. The clues continued: to Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, where even the normally stern First Order cast members couldn’t help but smile and break character (just a little) as they joined in the surprise; then to Space Mountain, a ride they both loved. At last, the final clue led Isabel to her most treasured spot in the park—Snow White’s Wishing Well—just as the sun was setting. What Rob didn’t know was that this spot already held a sacred meaning for Isabel. Long before their relationship began, she would often go there and pray, asking God to one day bring her the man she was meant to marry. When Rob unknowingly chose that very place as the ending to his scavenger hunt, Isabel recognized it as God’s perfect hint to her heart—that this love was meant to be. There, surrounded by the magic of the moment, Rob dropped to one knee. With a smile and a nod to their shared sense of humor, he ended his heartfelt words with a playful line from The Hangover: Isabel had turned his “one-man wolf pack into two.” And of course, she said yes.
