Our Love Story

We met the modern way, on Hinge, but it didn’t take long for things to feel anything but ordinary. At first, we bonded over running and planned to do a half marathon together. But the real spark came when we realized we were both spending time at the same airport. Izzy was studying for her private pilot certificate at the same airport Jake was flying out of for work. What started as a simple coincidence quickly became one of many moments that made us feel like something bigger was happening. After a few days of nonstop talking, we finally went on our first date: sushi and ice cream. Somewhere between the rolls and dessert, Jake ended up getting an eye infection. He tried to tough it out but eventually had to call the date early. Embarrassed, he went home convinced he had ruined everything, until Izzy kept texting, insisting we should’ve just stopped at Target so she could help take care of it. It was the first sign of how naturally we cared for each other. Date number two wasn’t any less dramatic. We went to Top Golf, then made homemade pizza back at Jake’s place, where he immediately got a bloody nose. At this point, Jake thought he might be allergic to Izzy. But again, she stayed calm, helped him out, and showed the same gentle care that was already starting to feel familiar. After that, it just clicked. From our second date on, we were together constantly, and being around each other felt so natural in a way neither of us had ever experienced. From that point on, everything was effortless. We ran together almost every day. We were together constantly, laughing, talking, and building something that felt real. And as our relationship grew, so did the life happening around us. We supported each other through big changes, exciting new jobs, the kind of losses that remind you how important love is, and the long stretches where Jake was away for weeks at a time. Even in those moments, the distance never really felt like distance. Through every bump, every celebration, and every little moment in between, the one thing we always knew for sure, was that we were better together. And now, we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives choosing each other, every day, in every season, in every little moment that makes our story ours. We can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with you.

Why this date is important to us...

November is the month we first met. Izzy will be 27 and she was born on the 27th of August. Our favorite number is 27. Jake will be 26. (I know a cradle robber.) Jake was born on the 28th of June so on our official full day of being married we get to celebrate on another special number for us.
