The second thing you want to do in Texas after buying your cowboy boots is get the best bbq Texas has to offer, and that can only be found at The Salt Lick. We come here every trip and fall in love with it over and over again each time. We love it so much that we named our new horse, Salty, after it! While this is a chain, there is no better version of Tex-Mex tacos in all of Austin! There are a lot of locations, but the one on South Congress allows you to take a post-taco walk down one of the most "Austin" parts of town (beware of hipsters!). The name says it all. Lots of good beer, and lots of good sausages. They're famous for having the largest beer tap wall in all of Texas. How many beers are on tap you ask? They had 206 on tap in early July! If you like beer, they have at least ten different types of beer for you to enjoy. The sausages are also out of this world! Jake's favorites: Curry Wurst, Zilker Milk Coffee Stout Izzy's favorites: Andouille Sausage, Austin Eastciders Original Dry Cider

If you enjoy water sports, and let's be honest everyone in Austin in August does, then Lady Bird lake is the place for you. We personally enjoy stand up paddle boarding, but there are other activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and of course the swan peddle boats. You can also see the famous Austin Bats at sunset by the South Congress bridge.
