Question

A Very Important Note to our Guests

Answer

BOOK EARLY!!! The date of our wedding coincides with the celebration of the Day of the Dead in Mexico—November 1-2. Day of the Dead, or Dia de los Muertos, is a traditional Mexican holiday that honors and celebrates deceased loved ones. It is believed that on this day, the spirits of the dead return to visit their families. Families create altars with photos, candles, flowers, and offerings of food and drink to welcome their loved ones back. The holiday is a colorful and joyous occasion, filled with music, dancing, and parades. It is a time for families to come together to remember and honor their ancestors, and to celebrate the cycle of life and death. Day of the Dead is a unique and beautiful tradition that showcases the rich cultural heritage of Mexico and San Miguel de Allende goes all out to celebrate. Because San Miguel is such a wonderful place to experience this holiday, we can expect that the town will be busy at this time of year. To this end, please keep in mind: -Book early!! This festival is very popular. Hotels, air and transportation will book early. -If possible, stay though Monday so that you can experience the celebrations on Nov. 2. There is usually a Catrina Parade and music and dance performances. -Because of the festival, some downtown streets will be closed Sunday afternoon/evening. Take this into consideration if you are leaving Sunday. Transportation companies will work with you on alternate plans for pick up.
