The short answer is, "yes" there is a parking lot at The Garver Feed Mill, however, spaces may be limited. Parking can also be found on South Fair Oaks Street and around Olbrich Gardens, which is right next door to our venue.
So here's the thing. We completely recognize the added burden of attending a wedding as parents. In fact, we strongly believe that childcare should be a universal human right. That said, the problem is Sophie has absolutely zero ability to focus when babies are around. Those who know her are no doubt aware that this is not an exaggeration. In the interest of insuring we all get to celebrate this day with Sophie's undivided attention, we would be extremely grateful if you could make childcare arrangements for the wedding ceremony and reception.
The exact meaning of these categories remains unresolved amongst both scholars and online bloggers. For example, the tuxedo was actually intended as a *less* formal option for men during the late-nineteenth century, who generally wore tailcoats as evening wear. For our wedding, a suit and tie, a sport-coat without a tie or a button-up shirt with a tie all fall within the range of formal/cocktail. Cocktail dresses emerged in association with the "modern woman" of the 1920s, but only achieved iconic status during the postwar era, following Christian Dior's "New Look" of 1947 and Charles James' "Cocktail dress" of 1950. Historically, cocktail dresses have varied significantly: in the 1930s cocktail dress hemlines went down to the ground - generally associated with formal attire. Other designs included bodices and even sleeves! The moral here is a dress around knee-length or longer, a jumper, or a pant-suit would all be appropriate, just please don't wear white!
We *do not* have an official shuttle. Free parking is available around the venue. Both Uber and Lyft operate in Madison and should be easily accessible at our venue and our block hotels. Taxis are also an option but usually require scheduling in advance. If you are staying at Hotel Indigo you can request to be added to their shuttle schedule for transportation to the ceremony.
We have room blocks at three hotels, that you can book via the links on our "Travel" page. We do not have an "official" hotel for the wedding bloc. We would generally recommend staying somewhere close to Downtown Madison or the near east side.
Probably not snow but who knows these days! Madison in August is generally quite warm (high 70s) with periodic bouts of rain or high humidity. Both our wedding ceremony and reception are indoors.
