This event is mainly to make sure that everyone can find the ceremony spot before the wedding. Google Maps/Apple Maps/GPS/Siri should be able to get you there no problem. Type in "Horsethief Lake Loop Trailhead" and it will take you right to the correct parking lot. Cell service can be spotty in the Black Hills so please make sure you have more than one person to call if you get lost. Once everyone is there, we will run through a quick rehearsal of the ceremony, give out some important notes, then all head out to dinner together! If you do get lost, follow signs to Mt Rushmore, then head away from Keystone about 3 miles. The pull-off is before you see the lake. If you are on 244 headed away from Rushmore and Keystone and you see a lake, you just missed it! Turn around.

Wedding Ceremony

Cocktail Attire: Wear cocktail dresses, LBDs, dressy jumpsuits, and dark jackets and slacks.
Our ceremony is happening outdoors, in South Dakota, at higher elevation, in October. We will proceed with the ceremony rain, snow, wind, or shine. Please look at the weather before choosing your attire. We will be doing a handfasting at our ceremony and invite you to take part (this will be more fully explained at the rehearsal or you can reach out to Isaac or Kelsey with questions). If there are words of congratulations, advice, etc. that you would like to share, please come to the ceremony with those prepared.

We would like some pictures with our loved ones! We will do group photos first with different family members and guests. After the group shots are done, the bride and groom (and bridal party) may disappear for a bit to do some more photos. At the time, guests are invited to enjoy the lake, go back to the hotel, or explore the Black Hills before making their way to the reception.

Prepare to eat, drink, and be happy! We will be partying the night away celebrating our new marriage. Again, please be considerate of the weather. It will get cooler as the night goes on so please have a plan if you start to get cold. The only thing that will change this plan is a forecast of heavy rain. If that occurs, we will communicate an amended plan to everyone prior to the wedding. If you are planning on drinking, please have a designated driver or plan on paying for Lyft back to the hotel.
