Just like any fairy tale love story Jessica & Kelsey met at a bar through mutual friends. After ducking out of a mortifying first (and last) date, Jessica met up with her roommate on Rainey Street. Kelsey was a mutual friend and spent the whole night chatting Jess up! The next day he texted a friend who texted another friend who texted Jessica to get her number. Shooters gotta shoot, right? With encouragement from her godmother, Jessica texted her friend who texted another friend who texted Kelsey to give him her number. That Wednesday they met for beers and haven't stopped drinking together since!
On New Years Day Kelsey told Jessica to keep the weekend following her birthday open for a surprise weekend trip. He gave no details other than the flight leaves at 6am on Saturday. Being someone who hates being out of the loop, Jessica spent weeks fretting over what to pack and guessing where they were going. By the time that Friday rolled around she was convinced they were going to New Orleans and that there was zero percent chance they were getting engaged that weekend. Friday night before their trip they were to stay the night at Kelsey's parents condo downtown. For the entirety of their elevator ride Jessica nagged Kelsey about bringing their bags from the car now instead of going back down to get them later, just then the elevator doors opened to the top floor library overlooking downtown. Assuming they hit the wrong floor Jessica tried to get back on the elevator when Kelsey grabbed her hand and led her around the corner where a bottle of champagne and a room full of floating candles was waiting for them. Kelsey got down on one knee and asked her to marry him...well not in those exact words but she got the point and said yes! Downstairs their family and friends were waiting for them to celebrate and to give Jess the biggest surprise yet. Upon arrival Kelsey handed Jessica two tickets to San Diego where they would surprise her grandparents with the good news and celebrate with her family. Needless to say there were many, many tears involved.
It's about damn time. We can't wait to get this party started with you. See you in Austin!
