Question

Why New Orleans?

Answer

When Iris's parents first immigrated to the US, they went to school at Tulane University in New Orleans, before eventually moving to Naperville Illinois. 35 years later they've moved back, and while visiting, Iris and Josh decided it would be a perfect place to get married. New Orleans has historical charm, beautiful architecture, and a major airport, accessible to our guests from all over the country. You can't beat the food, music, or vibe of New Orleans and we are so excited to share with all our friends and family!

Question

What is a Second line?

Answer

A second line is a parade traditionally arranged for weddings or funerals in NOLA. Police lead the parade and ensure the route is cleared of vehicles to make way for the brass band and ENTIRE guest list to dance through the streets celebrating the newlyweds! New Orleans is an old city and some streets are still the original cobblestone, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended! Guests will have favors to carry as well as a beverage to sip on, so plan to 'travel light'. The second line should take 30 minutes but the memories will last a lifetime! Feel free to use your phones and document the memories, you're the life of the party and travelers will stop to watch and sometimes even join YOU! A good second line needs energetic guests!

Question

How do I get around?

Answer

Travel to and from the airport and wedding will need to be arranged by each guest. Uber/Lyft are readily available and easy to use! The French Quarter is most easily accessible by foot, so make sure to bring comfortable shoes! If you would like to explore the city on the historic New Orleans Streetcar lines, the easiest way is to download the Le Pass app where you can purchase unlimited day trip tickets. Otherwise, you’ll need to have cash for each trip.

Question

Is this an indoor or outdoor event?

Answer

The wedding ceremony, second line and reception will all be outdoors. In the event that it looks like rain, there will be a tent over the entire venue courtyard.

Question

What is the weather like in New Orleans?

Answer

The weather in NOLA can be unpredictable! That being said, March is a great time to visit the Crescent City. Early in March the afternoon high temperatures tend to be in the upper 60s f, while the overnight lows average in the low to mid-50s f. This is simply gorgeous weather for a walking tour of the city. Overall, the weather is mild to warm this month. A light jacket or windbreaker or sweater may be all you will need for the cooler mornings and evenings, otherwise, short sleeves and other summer clothes will do for most afternoons this month.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Wear what makes you feel fabulous, and that includes comfortable shoes! Since we will be doing the second line parade to end the reception, please wear something you feel comfortable walking/dancing around in. High heels or thin heels are discouraged as there will be some walking and pavement and cobblestone streets can be uneven. Thicker heels or flats are perfect.

Question

Is the ceremony going to be Unplugged? (Can I take photos at the ceremony?)

Answer

We are requesting an unplugged ceremony so while you are welcome to have your cell phone on you, we ask that you put it on silent and please refrain from pictures during the ceremony. Our photographer will be sure to capture all of the important moments! You're welcome (and encouraged) to use your phones during the second line and Reception and share them with us on social media and through messages.

Question

Are children welcome?

Answer

In order to allow all guests, including parents, a night of relaxation, we have chosen for our wedding and wedding events to be an adults only occasion.

Question

Is New Orleans safe?

Answer

New Orleans is a tourist destination with a homeless population just like any city. Staying aware of 'tourist traps' and your surroundings is important, but overall, you'll find the people very pleasant to be around!

Question

What if I have a food allergy?

Answer

While we have tried to make our menu all-inclusive to accommodate our vegetarian and gluten-free guests, if there are any special allergies or dietary requirements please feel free to contact us and we will be sure to take care of you!
