I first met Austin Hunter Schmidt at William Rainey Harper College at the Z Building, also known as the Avante Center. He asked me out on a date and I said, "Yes!" We went out to Maggiano's Little Italy in Schaumburg on August 22, 2013. We had an amazing time, however, I just got out of a relationship and I couldn't do another one just yet. We stopped talking and a year goes by. On November 25, 2014, I purchased my first car! A black Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport. Austin loves Jeeps as we all know, he saw my Instagram post and direct messaged me that night! We started talking again and he asked me out on another date and I said, "YES!" On January 31, 2015, Austin took me out to see the beautiful ice sculptures in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and out to dinner at Popeye's. We finished our amazing night at the IPIC movie theater in Barrington where he and I tied in pool. After our date, Austin stopped talking to me and went back to his old girlfriend. However, on August 2015 he texted me again asking to hangout. I was very upset but remembered how cute he was so I told him, "this is your last chance!" He took me to one of Joe Palumbo's parties and since then we have been inseparable and couldn't be happier!
We flew to Mexico on August 8th and came back on August 15th. Our anniversary is August 14th but the magic happened on August 10th! One of the happiest days of my life! The vacation and the proposal was out of a fairy tale. We originally planned to do a romantic dinner on the beach when we first booked the hotel in January so I knew we were all planning on doing that. It was supposed to be on our anniversary but Austin was so nervous he had to do it as soon as possible! My parents and Austin planned everything under my nose I had no idea! On the day he was going to propose he was on his phone most of the day and I was getting upset! Little did I know he was writing my proposal poem. Oops! I got ready for our romantic dinner and Austin got his phone wet and he said he was going to the kitchen to get some rice. He was actually going to the beach to make sure everything was perfect. Once I finished getting ready we all went downstairs for our magical night. I went down the stairs which had rose petals and candles lit on the side. It was so beautiful. The sand on the beach had a heart drawn and around it had lit up candles with tiki torches and rose petals everywhere! We all took pictures together and while I took pictures of my parents Austin took the ring out and moved it into his pocket. So I never saw it! Austin insisted that we took more pictures so we did. Austin then said he wrote me a poem for our anniversary. Austin always writes me cute poems so I didn't think anything of it. Towards the end of the poem he stated, "with the blessing from your parents..." and that's when I realized he was proposing. I started balling my eyes out and don't really remember what he said after that. He then got down on his knee and put this beautiful ring on my finger. I of course said, "YES" and we hugged and kissed and everyone cheered us on! My parents, the waiter, and all the people at the hotel who saw this magical moment happen!
