Question

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Answer

The dress code is Black Tie Optional. For the men, if you have a tux, feel free to wear it, but if not, a suit is fine. Please do not feel pressured to rent a tux if you do not want to. For the ladies, a formal gown or mid length dress, jumpsuits, or separates is appropriate. We care most about having you at our wedding, so please do not stress too much about the dress code.

Question

What time should I arrive for the wedding ceremony?

Answer

Please arrive no earlier than 4:00 p.m. and no later than 4:15 p.m. The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 p.m.

Question

Will there be parking at the wedding?

Answer

There is limited free parking at the wedding venue. However, we encourage our guests to take Uber and Lyft so you can kick back and relax.

Question

How do I get to and from the wedding venue?

Answer

At this time, we will not be providing transportation to our venue. Ubers and Lyfts are readily available in the area, and we encourage you to make use of ridesharing apps. Both Uber and Lyft have features to book a ride at a set time, which may be helpful to do in advance. We will have shuttle busses operating on a loop to take guests from the venue towards the downtown area and the room block hotels. Because of the size of the shuttles, guests may need to wait to use this transportation, so please be prepared to book an Uber, Lyft, or taxi if you would like to leave at a specific time.

Question

Will the wedding be outside?

Answer

The wedding ceremony will be outside, weather permitting. Cocktail hour will be in an indoor-outdoor space, and the reception will take place in a tent. Please dress accordingly. Ladies, the ceremony will be on turf and the reception will be on grass. There are many cobblestones at the venue so we recommend choosing a block heel or flats over stiletto shoes. The venue is a very large, spread-out space, so please choose comfortable shoes that you will be able to walk in.

Question

What will the temperature be like in Charlottesville in October?

Answer

The average temperature for Charlottesville in October ranges from about 50 degrees to 70 degrees. It will likely be a bit chilly at night, so you may want to bring layers.

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation. If you received a plus one, it will appear under your name when you RSVP.

Question

Am I allowed to bring children?

Answer

Due to limited numbers, we hope you appreciate that we will only be able to accommodate children explicitly invited.

Question

Is the wedding venue accessible?

Answer

Yes. Although Gallison Hall is a bit spread out, the wedding venue provides golf cart transport for guests that may have difficulty getting around. Please contact Irina or Pete prior to the wedding day if you would like to make use of the golf cart transport.

Question

Why Gallison Hall?

Answer

When we began planning our wedding, we knew we wanted to get married in Charlottesville, which is one of our favorite cities. Charlottesville is known for its winery wedding venues, but when we saw Gallison Hall, we fell in love with the space. Gallison Hall is on the National Register of Historic Places. The plot of land and original home were designed according to plans supplied by Thomas Jefferson in 1802. In 1931, the land was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Galiban, who combined their last names (Galiban and Allison) to name the property "Gallison Hall." The home that now stands on the property was built in the Georgian Revival style and set among English gardens. The Galibans loved to host parties at Gallison Hall, and had a close relationship with William Faulkner who often attended events at the house while he was a Writer in Residence at the University of Virginia. It is rumored that Faulkner wrote some of his book, The Mansion while at Gallison Hall.
