We met thru an online dating platform. Irene had been online for a couple years and Scott for a couple weeks. Our first date was a quick bite to eat and then a long walk on the waterfront. We discovered that we had so much in common and conversation was so easy that when we got back to the parking lot we decided to keep walking -but this time in the other direction.
We were both dating with intention to find a marriage partner, so on our first date we discussed our ideas of how long to date before marriage. Scott initially thought 2 years sounded good; Irene had 3 years in mind but thought 2 could work. Irene also had a checklist of items that needed discussion and resolution before she could even think about a wedding. A few weeks later, Scott broached the subject again and said his lease was up in August and suggested that could be a good timeline; Irene was skeptical. Shortly after that Scott decided Valentine’s Day would be even better for a wedding; Irene said “Absolutely not!” In the end, Scott won Irene’s heart (and completed the items on her check list- even the ones he didn’t know about) and an April wedding date was set.
