We met the modern way — online — and had our first date on February 1st, 2022 at a local Coral Gables spot. The chemistry was there: the conversation flowed so effortlessly that the restaurant had to kick us out at closing time. There was even a first kiss. And then… radio silence. Brian kind of disappeared (classic). But fate — and a well-timed Friday BBQ with my friends — brought us back together. Brian showed up, got grilled (by my friends), and somehow survived both. As the night went on, we agreed to go to Key Largo and take the jetski out the next morning. A casual “See you at 9am!” was tossed around. To confirm the plan was still on, I called in the morning. Naturally, he didn’t answer. So I did what any sane person would do: showed up at his house like a stalker. Despite the rough start, we made it to Key Largo. The drive was quiet…awkwardly quiet. Turns out, Brian is just a man of few words — something I didn’t know yet. I thought I blew it. But somehow, that odd little adventure sealed the deal. From there, we kept dating, growing closer with each spontaneous trip, run club and shared plates of food. In August 2023, we went on a cruise and said “I love you” for the first time (cue the awws). Then, on November 1st, 2024 — during another cruise (yes, we’re cruise people now) — we walked into a jewelry store to look at watches, and I got completely distracted by a ring. It was love at first sight — with the ring, I mean (Brian was already a done deal). He loved it too, and just like that, we agreed to take the next step. No big gesture, no kneeling — just a very “us” moment that felt absolutely right. Now here we are, getting ready to celebrate the next chapter — surrounded by the people we love and a whole lot of laughter and smiles.
