the introduction

sometimes it pays to make new friends

They met in the nerdiest way possible. A mutual friend (and one of the groomsmen) was talking about D&D in class with Josh, who, in an effort to expand his time gaming, asked to join the game. Little did he know the future love of his life would be running the game. Their friend asked Tina if Josh could join, and she asked the group (including three of the bridesmaids) to put it to a vote. If anyone declined, Josh wouldn't be allowed to join. Fortunately for them everyone agreed to let Josh into their lives, and they met at Tina's house, to play their first game together.

the start of the relationship

she always said if she were to get married, God would have to throw the guy into her path so hard she couldn't ignore him

After knowing each other for about 6 months, in April 2018, Josh invited Tina to run a D&D game at a charity event. As he was the only one she knew, she spent a good chunk of the time when neither of them were playing hanging out with him. From then on, they started talking more often, until they were talking all day, every day. They were becoming best friends, much to both of their surprise. On September 21st, they had a deep conversation that started with Tina asking Josh about his religious beliefs, and ended with Josh telling her things he hadn't been able to admit before, to himself or to others. This was the night that Josh realized he liked her more than as just a friend. Tina was fully expecting no beliefs, but found Josh willing to go to her life group and give Christianity another go. A few weeks later, on October 5th, around midnight at the Momentum Retreat, Tina invited Josh to come, the next day, to the retreat, and Josh agreed to make the trip. After waking up at 6 am, he drove for a hour and a half to spend the day there, and that changed both of their lives. As Josh became a Christian, Tina's last barrier to liking him slipped away. After that, Josh started going to church, and they became used to seeing each other multiple times a week, as well as talking every day. In November, a friend asked Tina if she had a boyfriend, or if she liked anyone, and she found that, to her chagrin, she couldn't deny that she maybe liked this one guy a little bit. Two weeks later, on November 26th, they talked about our feelings over an uneaten Chick-fil-a dinner.

the proposal

the answer was obvious, really

Tina and Josh had decided to start going on hikes in whatever free time they had. Together, they decided that when Josh was going to propose to Tina, it would have to be on a hike. Little did Tina know the next hike they would go on Josh would propose to her. The big adventure of finding the right ring had started, and not just for Tina but for Josh as well as they agreed that both of them should have an engagement ring. They both wanted a ring to symbolize their love and commitment for each other. After many stressful nights and pinterest boards to find the right ring, Josh was able to find it. He went a jewelry store with his future father in-law, which was the same store his future brother in-law got his own wedding bands. Josh went in not knowing what to expect but knew he had found exactly what he was looking for. From the first glance he that this ring was perfect for Tina. Next was the location, Josh knew Tina loved waterfalls, so he found a hiking trail in Virginia that would be perfect. The drive took three hours, full of conversation, excitement, laughs, and singing. Josh had not been able to visit the place beforehand so he was looking for the right opportunity and he found it. In Crabtree Falls, with the waterfall behind them Josh dropped to his knee and asked the long-awaited question. Immediately Tina, with the biggest smile, said yes. At that moment all they could see was each other and the feeling of overwhelming joy continued through the rest of the hike and the day.
