How They Met

11.19.2017 Broncos vs. Bengals

After (of course) accidentally cutting in front of Chris in the beer line at the Broncos Game, Anna bought Chris and his friend drinks as an apology for the (obvious) misunderstanding. Chris asked for Anna's number and asked if he could return the favor and take her out some time, to which she of course said yes. Their first date at Reiver's Bar & Grill happened shortly after.

The Proposal

12.21.19 Seasons of Love

Chris and Anna had plans to travel to Arlington, VA for a joint birthday celebration for Ginger & Julie just a few days before Christmas. Knowing how important family is to Anna, Chris decided that might be the perfect time. Several months before the trip, he secretly solicited the help of Anna's family and friends in making arrangements and finding the perfect ring. Chris shipped the ring to Anna's dad and burdened him with keeping the proposal secret for months! Travel day came and Chris' nonchalant attitude towards sharing a bag had Anna convinced the proposal was not coming that weekend. After Ginger & Julie's birthday dinner, the family went back to the house where Chris proposed while Ginger played "Seasons of Love" on the piano, a song from Anna's favorite musical. Anna was completely caught off guard and had no idea Chris and the whole family had been laying the plans for several months! We invite you to join us on September 19th to find out what she said!!

The Ring and the Bear

When I was 21 my sister Jan and her little boy TJ were killed in a car wreck. It shattered our hearts for many years and splintered our lives in many ways. Jan was a loving, family centered person who brought joy to every moment, every occasion and every person. When we were kids, I remember her holding down Don and swinging her hair across his face to tickle him and make him giggle. When I was in high school (and awkward) she sewed beautiful dresses for me and helped me in so many ways. Just being her sister made us all feel very special. Her husband gave me Jan's wedding ring and it sat in a box for over four decades. That beautiful diamond is now the center stone in the Ring that Christofer made and gave to Anna for their engagement. It is so lovely - and I am very glad to see it back in the light of our family and our lives. Jan's ring was set on a very wide white gold band. Anna took the band to a jeweler and had a beautiful bear brooch pin made for me - adding Jan's birthstone - citrine - to the Bear's heartline which of course I think of as Jan's heartline which continues - through the love, the loyalty, the joy and the strength of our family.
