Flight
Mexico City is easy to get to, with plenty of nonstop flights from major U.S. cities. We recommend comparing airlines to find the best option for your schedule and budget. If you're traveling from SoCal, don't forget to check flights out of TJ as they're often significantly more affordable than flying from LAX or other nearby airports. SoCal travelers, here's a little travel hack: Flying out of Tijuana can be a great way to save money. We've done this and saved nearly half compared to flying out of LAX. With the Cross Border Xpress (CBX), you can easily walk across the border directly into the Tijuana airport without the hassle of crossing through regular border lines. ♡ CBX Pass: Approximately $43–$55 per person roundtrip (discounted rates available for families) ♡ Parking: Approximately $17–$25 per day Some of our favorite airlines? Glad you asked. ♡ Aeromexico: If you find a great deal, book it! You won't be disappointed. They offer complimentary snacks, beverages (yes, even alcohol), great service, comfortable seating, and TVs on most flights. ♡ Delta & United: You really can't go wrong with either of these airlines. We don't always find the best prices with them, but if you happen to find a good deal, we definitely recommend taking it. ♡ Volaris & Viva: Let's be honest, these are the budget-friendly options, and they definitely get the job done. We've flown with both many times because the prices are hard to beat. Just be prepared and you'll be just fine!
Travel Note
Once you arrive, we highly recommend using Uber to get around. It's affordable, convenient, and generally the easiest way to travel throughout the city. We'd suggest skipping taxis, as visitors are often times charged higher. Thinking about renting a car? Unless you're looking for an exciting game of real-life bumper cars, we'd pass. Mexico City traffic can be a bit of an adventure, and the driving style definitely takes some getting used to. The good news is that once you're settled into your hotel or Airbnb, many restaurants, cafés, and attractions are within walking distance. For anything farther away, Uber is your best friend.
