Our Love Story

We met in 2012 at a church conference called HLUB, in Wheaton, IL. I honestly never thought I would meet my future spouse there because that's where "everyone" meets their significant other and I didn't want to be another one. Ha! The thing is, we didn't fall in love there. We actually didn't fall in love until three years later. I had moved to NC from AK in the beginning of 2015 and because I only knew him and his brothers there, I stuck to them like glue. Phillip started texting me and wanted to make me feel welcomed, me being the new person and all. He was just being kind to me. I'm a terrible texter so I would not reply for days. Sometimes it was literally me forgetting to reply back, and other days were me not wanting to because I wasn't ready to get close to anyone. Little by little, we started opening up to each other. On July 1st, 2015, we decided to make it official and started dating from there on! Late 2017, I moved back to AK to help my parents. Boy was long distance hard. There were lots of tears and doubts and arguments. We thought our relationship wasn't gonna last. But, we pushed on through because we loved each other too much to let distance come in the way. In summer of 2018, he came up to visit me. I knew that he had the ring because we had already talked about marriage before I even moved back, but it was a complete surprise! I had previously told him that I dislike public proposals because I don't like people looking at me and I get extremely anxious. We were babysitting my cute baby nephew one day and while my nephew was playing, Phillip pulled me aside, got down on one knee, and read a poem he had been working on for over a year and asked me to marry him! I was over the moon!! All happened in the living room of my sister's apartment in front of my clueless baby nephew. Super low key and not romantic to many people, but it was so him, so us, and so sweet.

For all the days along the way
