On the Connecticut shoreline, late June temperatures typically hover in the mid-70s, occasionally reaching low 80s. Sun is expected, but rain is not uncommon.
The dress code is semi-formal/cocktail attire. Cocktail dresses and suit and tie or sports coat are encouraged.
Unfortunately, Guilford does not have notable accommodations to choose from. Guests are encouraged to seek New Haven hotels on an individual basis and take advantage of the many charming bed & breakfast inns and hotels in nearby Madison and Branford as recommended in the Travel section of the website. AirBnB and VRBO is also highly recommend.
The reception venue has plenty of parking, and drop offs can be made at the front door for guests with disabilities or difficulty walking from the parking lot.
Our reception is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.
Our wedding will be an adults-only occasion to ensure all guests are able to relax and enjoy the celebration. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the little ones at home.
New Haven style pizza (Frank Pepe’s in particular), Connecticut style lobster roll, and New England clam chowder are some of the top foods to try for out-of-towners. Avoid chain restaurants and enjoy local favorites — New Haven is a melting pot with a variety of ethnic foods to try, and Guilford boasts several different types of cuisine near the town Green.
Many of the streets surrounding the Guilford Green have an abundance of historic homes with many dating back to the 1700s. Boston St., Broad St., Fair St., and Whitfield St. are all in this area and have numerous beautiful homes from various time periods. Notable homes include the Henry Whitfield House, Hyland House, and Thomas Griswold House. For historic beach cottages and luxurious waterfront mansions, take a drive through the Sachem Head neighborhood (Uncas Point Rd., Colonial Rd., Chimney Corner Circle, and Prospect Ave. among others).
