Emerald Bay is a landmark in Lake Tahoe. It is one of many beautiful vista points around the lake.
Angora Lakes is one of our favorite day trips in Lake Tahoe! I (Hillary) used to work here in high school--best job ever. You will enjoy a 1/2 mile hike through the forest and arrive at an adorable resort with cabins, and a store. Swim in the lake, rent a stand-up paddle board, and enjoy a delicious glass of fresh squeezed lemonade. Parking fee is $8. https://angoralakesresort.com/
Enjoy a bit of Lake Tahoe History and learn about early tourism at Lake Tahoe. The Tallac Historic Site is comprised of historic estates built by wealth San Francisco families who profited from the Comstock Silver Rush in the late 1800's. Situated right on the shore of Lake Tahoe, this stop can be combined with a beach trip to Kiva Beach and a lunch at the Beacon!
Our favorite beach! Gorgeous views of Mt. Tallac, not to mention a great place to swim! Can be combined for a full day with Tallac Historic Site, Taylor Creek, and lunch at the Beacon!
A great short paved walk through aspen groves and meadows. Learn about local wildlife and ecosystems of Lake Tahoe. Also has a very unique stream profile chamber, which is similar to an aquarium where you can view the stream as if you're under water! Short walk from Kiva Beach and Camp Richardson.
Awesome place to spend a day at the beach, learning about Lake Tahoe history and enjoying the outdoors. Camp Richardson has a general store, ice cream shop, and marina if you're interested in renting a boat or jet ski! Camp Richardson is also home of the Beacon restaurant, a great place to eat and drink (be sure to enjoy a Rum Runner)!
If you're into gambling or nightlife, be sure to visit Stateline, Nevada. This area is where many casinos are located including Mont Bleu, Harrah's, Hard Rock, and Harveys.
The Heavenly gondola is a must-do if you're ok with heights and want a spectacular panoramic view of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains! In addition to the gondola, Heavenly has a zip line, mountain coaster, and multiple ropes courses to enjoy at the top! https://www.skiheavenly.com/explore-the-resort/activities/summer-activities.aspx
Zephyr Cove is another beachside resort with a marina, beach volleyball courts, and restaurant. This is also where you can catch the MS Dixie and enjoy a day trip or dinner paddleboat ride to Emerald Bay.
Great brewery and place to eat in the middle of town!
Awesome tap room with yummy wood-fired pizza and a comfortable patio! Live music on weekends! http://www.laketahoealeworx.com/
Can't go wrong with Italian!
Great small brewery! Blaine and I love this place! If you're into pickles, definitely get their pickle jar, which is a tasty assortment of homemade pickled veggies!
Excellent breakfast joint in South Lake! There will be a wait on weekends, but it's worth it!
Bistro food with a view! Recommended beverage: the Wet Woody
This was where Blaine and Hillary had their first date! Delicious and fresh food with rooftop seating.
Dang do we miss this place! Best tacos and great prices!
This adorable arts and gift shop is owned by Hillary's cousin! Excellent place to get gifts and souvenirs made by local artists!
No food here, but this brewery is owner by a local couple! They know how to make good beer and we recommend you give it a try!
We would be remiss to not include our favorite coffee place! They have an excellent yerba mate chai worth ordering.
Another great coffee spot with even better smoothies!
