We're so excited to celebrate with you!

Max and Emily met a few times before they started dating. Max was working at Nike and Emily was running for Nike. They met in 2014 at an event Max was working and Emily was an athlete guest. Then in 2015 Max interviewed Emily and her coach at a running event. A mutual friend of theirs was also at the event creating a further connection. As they were living across the country, neither one thought anything of these meetings outside of a friendly encounter. In 2017 they connected again, this time in Portland. Emily assumed Max had moved to Portland, when he told her he was living in Atlanta she thought well nvm about us connecting. That didn't stop Max. He pursued Emily the entire 2 weeks he was in Portland. But at the time she was running 100 mile weeks and exhausted so never met up with him. They continued to text as Max said he would be back in Portland in a couple weeks. Normally Emily would go to Cleveland for Christmas with her family but this Christmas her family came to Portland :) Which was lucky since Max was back in Portland December 26. Max called Emily December 26 and wanted to take her out on a date. She was super excited and then when she showed up at the restaurant Maxs friend was also there. Emily then realized Max was only interested in a friendship. She still was kind and the three of them hung out the next three days. By the end of the trip Max confessed his love, the rest is history.. or so we thought. Emily still wasn't quite sure. She flew to Colorado for an altitude training trip with her teammates. Max also happened to be in Colorado, under the guise of "boys ski trip". Meanwhile he drove hours and hours on multiple days to hangout with Emily. He even pretended to "miss his flight" to spend more time with her. They continued to talk and Max decided to make one final attempt -- a trip to Florida to watch Emily race. This final attempt wooed Emily and the rest really is history.
