Our Story

Joel and I met four years ago when we both worked at APT. I thought he was cute but definitely “not my type” (and I wasn’t his!). Mostly because he loves Jesus and at the time I didn’t really know Jesus. So we were coworkers and “pals”. Meanwhile, God was getting ready to soften my heart and turn my world upside down. And over the next three years He did just that. God came into my broken life and showered me with grace, forgiveness, truth, and love. He blessed me with an amazing community and better friends than I deserve. And He could have stopped there—He gave me the most priceless gift in His son Jesus and in the promise of salvation. But He wasn’t done yet. Last year God opened doors for me to Work at Wesley and Joel and I got to be coworkers and “pals” all over again. But this time it was different—we both loved Jesus now. So after several weeks of workplace flirting and finally a blunt text about his intentions with texting me so much, Joel and I started dating. And while we’ve had our ups and downs God has been gracious enough to continue pulling us closer to Him and to each other, even through distance and travel and unpredictable schedules. On September 27th Joel took me for a day date—we both work as teavel nurses so when we find a day off together we try to use it well. So we went to lunch at Sabor, played a heated round of mini golf and shared a braums sundae. The plan was to go back to Joels house to relax before a game night with friends. When we got to his house Joels dad came out and asked for our help with a pipe he was working on in the back yard. When I walked around to the back I found Joel had set up rose petals and pictures of us throughout our year of dating. There was a felt sign which read “Will you Marry me?”. And as I turned around Joel was on one knee as he asked me to marry him. It was a quick and easy YES! I am so excited to be his wife and forever roomie, to stand behind him, serve beside him and always cheer him on.
