let's celebrate!

Madi moves into the condo directly above Michael. Madi's roomates, who are Michael's friends, ask for help moving in. M&M build an Ikea shelf together, when Madi begins to think Michael is kind of cute... Michael thinks nothing of this first encounter... M&M are now friends.

Madi, Mike, and a friend go thrifting together. Friend decides to leave for sudden dinner plans afterward (thank you, Glee...) M&M decide to share their first meal together at 888. Many church friends are present at 888, so dinner pivots to In-N-Out on 27th st. Michael learns of more about Madi's story, family, and faith. To be honest, Michael thought Madi was cute the first time too, but now that he knows her heart, he begins to develop feelings.

After a few more hangouts, Michael decides that he wants to seek clarity in this relationship. He confesses his feelings to Madi, and she (of course) reciprocates. They first decide to take things slow, but Michael is not a patient man. On the 21st night of September, Michael asks Madi to be his girlfriend, and she (of course) says yes. Little does she know, she will give Michael another "yes" on this day, a few years down the road.

Michael takes Madi to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, because all he knew about women at this point was that they liked flowers (that's still all he knows, honestly). It wasn't as beautiful as he imagined, but the Wildflower Center became a special place for M&M. They would return every anniversary to this special place.

Three years pass of leading wild adventures, enduring summers of long-distance in Dallas and Seattle, serving together, learning to accommodate each other's peculiar palette, holding and crying, doubting and misunderstanding, laughing and loving. Michael takes Madi back on a familiar adventure to the wildflower center, where he asks Madi to be his forever. She gives her "yes", just as she did on this day three years ago.
