It all started back in 2019 at Air Force tech school. I noticed her right away—she was beautiful, and there was just something about her that caught my eye. Naturally, I asked a friend about her, only to find out she was in our same unit back home. That was a nice surprise, but at the time, it was just a small detail. When we got back home, our friend group became a tight-knit bunch. We spent weekends going out, laughing, and creating memories together. One winter night, we decided to go ice skating. She had never skated before, and I offered to teach her. I remember holding her hand, helping her stay steady as she wobbled on the ice. It felt natural, and in that moment, something clicked for both of us. We didn’t say it out loud, but we both felt it—a connection that was new and unexpected. Then COVID hit, and everything changed. She came into town and stayed for a month. We spent almost every day together, and our friendship grew stronger. I started to catch feelings, but she was playing it cool, trying to act like there was nothing there. After she left, I drove to New Jersey to see her and from her apartment we went to get two puppies, Nala and Simba. It was one of those moments that made me realize how much I wanted her to be a part of my life. I found myself driving up to New Jersey every weekend just to see her, even if it was just for a day. Two months later, on my birthday, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and she said yes. In January 2021, she moved to Maryland, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. It’s been a journey of laughter, patience, and love, and it’s crazy to think it all started on the ice that winter night. Now, we’re ready for the next chapter together—forever.
