Planning a surprise proposal for someone as nosy as her was no easy task. Since I already knew we were headed to the DR, I knew a beach proposal would be the perfect way to surprise her. Disguised as a maternity shoot, we walked down to the beach while Chandra, her sister-in-law, worked behind the scenes to coordinate a beautiful setup with a gazebo, flowers, and candles. Once I got the signal, I went ahead to get in place while Dante, her older brother, escorted her down to where I was waiting. As they approached, she heard a song that only I would be playing and by the time she reached me, I was standing in the center of a circle of flowers, ready for the moment I had been waiting for. In front of new friends, family on FaceTime, and God, I nervously got down on one knee, looked into her eyes, and asked, “Will you marry me?” And just like that, one of the most meaningful moments of our journey became a memory we’ll cherish forever. In that instant, God quieted down all the noise, and everything else seemed to fade away. Surrounded by love, overcome with emotion, and stepping into the future we had prayed for, she said yes — and our forever began.
