Summer of 2022, with the "Back to the Office" movement, Imani & Chanse were forced to return to fluorescent lighting & not so great food. Not knowing each other prior to, Imani and Chanse met through a mutual friend introducing them and close seating. The two continued to see each other around the office, exchanging polite waves and smiles each week. But one night at a work-sanctioned Karaoke event, Chanse made the excellent choice of choosing "This Is How We Do It" to sing. *insert Cabbage Patch dance here* As he took the stage and started singing the verse, Imani rushed the stage and grabbed the mic from his hand to sing real loud. Of course, Chanse was shocked by the audacity of this woman he's never spoken more than a few words to - but they carried on and sang together into the same mic for the rest of the 3:59 minute song. A few weeks later, they ran into each other in the office again and Chanse suggested that they actually grab lunch for a proper introduction. Imani agreed with a smirk. After their first lunch that lasted an hour, Chanse knew Imani was the one. The two continued to talk more frequently and agreed to regular lunches. Eventually, one day in a mostly empty office, Chanse built up the courage to ask Imani out after she, not so slyly, kept dropping interest. Their first date was at Westlight in Brooklyn, and ended with a competitive 4 hour long "song-off". (each person chooses to play a song for the round, whosever song is better wins!) And that my friends, was the start to this beautiful relationship.
