Two of my best friends in high school (Marcia and Abbi) worked at the Subway in the Natatorium. I frequently came by to come visit them and score some free food. This visit in particular I decided to fill out an application so I could work with my friends too. Marcia was busy with a customer so I turned the application in to the other guy that was working that night. When I handed the application to him, i looked at him I thought “Oh my god he is so cute”. Then I instantly got embarrassed because I remember Abbi and I were being extra goofy and crazy and he probably thought I was so weird, LMAO! I thought he would want nothing to do with me so I just kind of blew it off and figured i would just crush from afar. I gave him the nickname “Cute Guy From Subway”. My friend from another school, Kaitlyn, approached me and told me that she knew a guy that she wanted to set me up with for Homecoming. I at first gave her a flat no (sorry babe, lol). I’ve been set up before and it turned out to be a disaster. She asked me If I was sure, because he is a really great guy. I still wasn’t sure if I was willing to go through that, so i told her to give me a day to think about it. Fast forward a day later, I was hanging out with my friend Charlie when Marcia (the Subway friend) texted me and said “YOURE GOING TO HOMECOMING WITH JOSH GUBA??!??” I was so confused because I didn’t even tell her about this yet and there was no way for her to know. When I asked her how she knew about that, she replied, “Thats the guy you handed in your application to the other day”. I guess when Josh was looking at my facebook to see who I was, he saw that Marcia was my friend, then realized I was the girl that turned in that application to him. Josh told Marcia about it, and she texted me right away. When I finally put It all together, I flipped out and screamed, “ITS THE CUTE GUY FROM SUBWAY!”. Who woulda thought that an arranged homecoming date would turn into me meeting the love of my live! <3
Brenda planned us a romantic getaway to Sandals Jamaica for early 2019. I knew that 10/10/2020 was a date she had her eye on, so I thought Jamaica would be the perfect time to finally propose. After procrastinating, I special ordered the ring just 2 weeks before the trip without her knowing about it and had it shipped to my work to keep it secret. Brenda pretty thoroughly packed all of our bags for the trip, but what she didn’t know was the ring I had snuck into my bag right before leaving. After a stressful trip through airport security hoping they wouldn’t out the secret, we were on our way. Throughout our stay I was a little defensive about her going into my bag, telling her “Don’t worry I’ll get that out.” Our last night there Brenda scheduled a photo session and a private dinner on the beach. I wanted to surprise her during the photo shoot so her reaction could be captured. The ring box is not easily hidden, so with the ring in my pocket we left for the photo shoot. Again procrastinating, I didn’t even warn the photographer until halfway through the photo shoot. When he walked away to get a bench for a set of photos, I followed him away from Brenda and let him know my plan to propose. The last area for the photo shoot, the photographer had us do some poses to get into good position and when he gave me the sign he was ready I got the ring out and dropped to one knee. Even though the “Yes” was a given, it still made me nervous. We were treated right after to a private evening dinner on the beach, our first as an engaged couple.
