It was the spring semester of their freshman year. Tired from a full day of classes, Lyndsey was content to stay in, but Alex, wanting to get out of the dorm, decided to participate in the 5K and convinced his friend to join him. God had other plans for the two of them, and through that simple decision, our paths crossed at the 2022 Missions Run. Alex set out with the goal of finishing last in the 5K, while Lyndsey was simply excited about the glow sticks. Instead of running, Alex walked at a leisurely pace, and Lyndsey, always willing to lend a hand (and unable to say no), was compelled to stand along the course, passing out glow sticks to participants. It was completely God who brought them together. Alex paused to greet a mutual friend near Lyndsey’s post just as she was wrapping up with the glow sticks, and she, seeing an opportunity to connect, joined the conversation. Their shared warmth and humor made it easy to connect, and when Alex invited the group to walk with him, Lyndsey was the one who said yes. That night, full of laughter and new friendships was just the beginning of the story God had written for them. Lyndsey left convinced she’d found a lifelong friend in Alex, not yet realizing how beautifully God was intertwining our lives together, till death do they part.
