FAQs

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by 01 March, 2025.

Question

How long should I plan to be in Uzbekistan?

Answer

We suggest that everyone flies into Tashkent City no later than Sunday, 13 April 2025. Transport to the Chimgan Mountains will begin that afternoon and we will stay in the mountains for two nights (the 13th and 14th). We suggest reserving Wednesday, 15 April for any last minute site-seeing and the return to Tashkent to catch a flight home. If you would like to visit other attractions, please plan accordingly and reach out with any questions!

Question

Is it easy to get around?

Answer

There are trains that run between major cities, but make sure you check the timing. Some trains may only run at night or on specific days. We suggest taxi as your everyday transportation. It is the most economical and reliable option for getting around by yourself. Transportation to and from the venue will be arranged.

Question

What should I do about accommodations?

Answer

Please check the Accommodations page for our suggestions! For the 2 days in the mountains, we will block rooms for family and guests. We are more than happy to help you arrange special accommodations if our suggestions do not fit your needs.

Question

What is the predominant language?

Answer

Uzbek and Russian are the predominant languages in Uzbekistan. With tourism growing, you may find some English speakers, but we suggest planning ahead if you do not speak Russian. Download translation apps and if traveling alone, English-speaking guides will be helpful.

Question

How should I dress?

Answer

You may find information online suggesting that you should dress with lots of coverage. Bring a variety of clothing and layers for spring and in case you would like to enter religious establishments, but do not feel obligated to dress overly conservatively. Dress as you would when traveling to any other country! Interestingly, much of Central Asia actually banned head coverings to combat extremism. While this turned out to be exclusionary of religious groups and is no longer in effect in Uzbekistan, it is certainly not obligatory of any travelers to go dress outside of international social norms.

Question

Are there entry requirements for Uzbekistan?

Answer

Yes. As with all international travel, valid passports are required and must not expire within 3 months of your return home. For U.S. guests, you are also required to obtain a visa. Please visit the Travel page for details.
