How We Met

11.11.17

Lizzie and Gordon were both at a point in their lives where they had each accepted they would probably end up being single or in one of the other non-marital vocations. A few weeks before she met Gordon, Lizzie told Jesus in prayer that she was ready for a relationship if he wilt it. Gordon said the same prayer three days before they met. It was on a high school retreat they both helped staff in November of 2017 that Lizzie happened to say, "I like art, but I won't go into that because I'll never stop talking about it". Gordon asked her to talk about it and he's been listening ever since.

The Proposal

05.06.19

They flew to Georgia for four days to attend a friend's wedding. Gordon had planned to propose any one of the few days when the time was right (except the day of the friend's wedding). On the way out of probably the most fun they've had tearing it up at someone's wedding, Lizzie says, "You know, if there was any time you were going to propose... right now would be perfect." And guess freaking what. Gordon didn't have the ring on him because... well... it was the day of his long-time bud's wedding. A few days later Gordon took Lizzie to lunch in order to get away from his family for some privacy. Option A was closed so it was down to Plan B. Then... Plan C: a much more expensive restaurant that Gordon was reluctant to go to at first until he realized it made a perfect excuse for an "improv date & engagement celebration". Once Gordon parked the car, he said, "Hey, I'll get your door for you since it's a date," to which Lizzie excitedly (and totally obliviously) said, "Okay!" As Lizzie turned around after stepping out, Gordon was already down on one knee with the ring out, asked the question you all knew he would, and Lizzie gave the answer you all hoped (and knew) she would: "YES!"
