Phones, SIM Cards & Staying Connected International Roaming Some U.S. carriers (like T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon) offer international roaming plans that include calling, texting, and data usage in Nigeria. Check with your provider before departure to confirm coverage and any associated fees. Local SIM Cards & eSIMs Purchasing a local SIM card (from providers like MTN, Airtel, or Glo) upon arrival can offer affordable data and local call rates. Many providers also offer eSIM options, allowing you to download a SIM profile directly to your phone without needing a physical card. Ensure your phone is unlocked before travel to use a local SIM or eSIM. MiFi Devices (Portable Wi-Fi) MiFi devices offer portable Wi-Fi and are a great option for guests who want to stay connected on multiple devices while in Lagos or Enugu. To purchase a MiFi device in Nigeria, a National Identification Number (NIN) is typically required. If you’d prefer not to handle this on your own, we’re happy to assist with renting or arranging a MiFi for your stay—just reach out and we’ll guide you through it! Tips for Staying Connected 1. Unlock your phone before traveling to use local SIMs or eSIMs. 2. Purchase SIM cards from official stores or authorized dealers to ensure proper registration. 3. Use Wi-Fi in hotels, cafes, and restaurants to conserve data. 4. Download essential apps (like WhatsApp, Google Maps, or ride-hailing apps) before your trip.
