Alina and Alek first met in their high school during freshman year and quickly became friends. Alina kept Alek in the friendzone for many years until she finally gave him a chance after their senior year. Alek won her heart by always making her laugh, treating her friends as his own, and overcoming his fear of cats. Since then, their love continues to grow and they continue to strive to be their best selves for one another.

After moving to Blacksburg together and adding Butters and Zola to their family, Alek planned the perfect proposal. Their friends and family gathered at Alina's childhood home and one by one they read notes written by Alek. At the end, Alek got down on one knee and the rest is history.
