It all started on the very first night of college, August 18th, 2017. Liv, never one to shy away from making new friends, invited Jack (and about 50 other people) to play Cards Against Humanity in the dorm common room. While it may have been a chaotic night of card games and introductions, it sparked something that would turn into so much more. In the weeks that followed, Jack and Liv became fast friends—spending late nights talking in the dorm hallways, bonding over sports, music, and the college experience. Their friendship hit a turning point when Liv invited herself on a boys’ weekend to Jack’s family beach house on Fripp Island. (Bold move, Liv.) From then on, the foundation of friendship continued to become stronger. It wasn’t until junior year that things began to shift from “just friends” to something more. Jack invited Liv to Fripp over spring break with his family and close friends, celebrating a big birthday [for their now wedding officiant] GG! After that weekend, their friendship continued to shift and the feelings became undeniable. Jack FINALLY asked Liv on their first official date (June 26th, 2020) to the Myrtle Beach Aquarium, followed by dinner on the beach. As if it were scripted in a rom-com, a fireworks show just happened to begin as they walked along the shoreline, setting the stage for a new chapter in their story. A month later, Jack flew to Indiana to visit Liv and officially asked her to be his girlfriend on the rooftop of Stacks in downtown Valpo (July 16th, 2020). From there, the adventures kept coming. Senior year was a dream, and after graduation, they moved to Charlotte, NC, together. That summer, they traveled all over the country for work, making memories that only brought them closer. When Liv was accepted into her doctorate program, Jack didn’t hesitate to move with her to Tampa, Florida, where they spent three more wonderful years building their life together. Then came the biggest surprise of all—Jack proposed on the beach at sunset in Clearwater, surrounded by both of their families on May 3rd, 2024. Now, over eight years since that first chaotic card game, they’ve started their next big adventure: life in downtown Chicago!
