The city of Florence is east of Pisa, and can be easily reached via a 1 hr and 22 min train ride using the Tren Italia (https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html). From the Pisa Airport (Pisa Fermata Aeroporto Station) take the train to Central Pisa (Pisa Centrale Station), and then onto Central Florence (Firenze S.M. Novella Station). The train runs twice an hour, which allows for a perfect day trip!
