As they entered the cafe, they noticed a man completely caught up in his laptop at the front of the place. Ileisa's friend couldn't help mentioning that he looked like the musician, Drake. As she went about gossiping with her friends, Ileisa was surprised when he approached their table and made a curious and humorous remark: "You don't look like you're from around here." Garrett's confident approach intrigued her, as her friends couldn't contain their laughter. Before leaving, Garrett left Ileisa with his number. Little did they know, their chance encounter in January 2016 would blossom into a love story spanning eight years. Now, Ileisa and Garrett are preparing to embark on a new journey together. In May 2023, Ileisa returned to Austin, TX after a two-week European vacation with her mom. Despite feeling exhausted and jet-lagged, Garrett was insistent on heading to Houston for his birthday celebration that would include Ileisa's cherished friends and family who had become his own. Adding to the surprise, Garrett's sister, Nora, flew in from New York to join the festivities therefore making Ileisa assume it was just a birthday party for Garrett. Upon arriving in Houston, they made a quick stop at Ileisa's mom's house to drop off their bags and freshen up for dinner. Ileisa was pleasantly surprised to find her sister, Ieisha, had also flown in, but the rush of excitement didn't raise any suspicions. As Ileisa freshened up, Garrett, in particular, seemed nervous yet excited while constantly checking his watch and pacing around the room with a smile. Ileisa's sister and her mom were mysteriously absent with Garrett explaining that they had to run an errand before dinner. As they now found themselves in the car heading to the restaurant, despite Ileisa's hunger and fatigue, Garrett insisted on making a quick stop at their old building in Houston which they once called home. And it was there, on the rooftop of their former residence, with the breathtaking skyline as their backdrop, that Garrett dropped to one knee and asked Ileisa to spend forever by his side. Overwhelmed with joy, Ileisa said, "Yes" and suddenly found herself surrounded by her family and friends who had appeared out of nowhere, all in on the surprise.
