Easiest one to knock out (it's literally *in* The Line Hotel). Can't really go wrong with any order.
Straight up Mexican taqueria. Perfect-hole-in-the-wall-walking-distance-from-the-hotel.
Best smoked black beans and pescado a la plancha. Strongest frozen margs in Austin -- they WILL cut you off after two. Well worth the schlep to East Cesar Chavez.
This one requires a resy. Get the suadero tacos and then go to Whisler's next door for their mezcal bar.
This is one of Matt's favs. Get the El 420. Grab breakfast there and then check out South Congress.
If you see one of these little phone booths that sell street tacos, call an uber - you're drunk on 6th street. But not before grabbing a 3 dollar Arrachera Taco. Ilanit keeps them in business.
Michelin award winner. They often sell out.
The Asadero Tacos are named by TEXAS MONTHLY as “one of the 120 tacos you must eat before you die!" Also they don't take reservations but the bar is open while you wait.
You can get these breakfast babies anywhere from the airport to local cafès, but this specific location is a Keep Austin Weird OG and right on the green belt. Because hidden gems with pretty views just make tacos taste better.
Solid breakfast joint. Don't forget to get your complementary handshake from the owner, Juan.
Super authentic. Be sure to try the cheesy gordita crunch and the baja blast.
