Our Story

02.04.17

This pair met at one of the most romantic places of all — a wedding! When eye contact was made at the ceremony from across the aisle, and seats were taken next to one another at the fabled “Singles’ Table”, it was certain that the two would spend the evening chatting and dancing the night away. At the end of the night, Mitch asked Ilana on a date, which they would go on four days later... Mitch wanted to plan a memorable first date, so he picked a cuisine Ilana had never tried: Korean. Over bimbimbap and Soju wine, they spent hours discussing their favorite shows (particularly Shark Tank), dream travel destinations, fitness regimens, business ideas and more. Many more dates followed, as well as trips around the world. They especially loved moving into their beautiful Upper East Side apartment together, with a balcony overlooking Central Park. Through it all, including Mitch’s busy seasons, and Ilana’s weekly out-of-town work travel, nothing could interfere with what they both knew from the start — they were meant to be together.  While there’s debate about whether or not weddings should have a “Singles' Table”, this couples’ stance on the matter is a resounding YES!

The Proposal

08.22.20

It was a warm, sunny Saturday in August when Ilana and Mitch had plans to celebrate Mitch’s sister Danielle’s birthday… or so Ilana thought. Mitch had another plan in store, one he began formulating two months prior, when he first asked for, and received, Ilana's father's permission to marry her. Once he had the ring in his possession, all he needed was the perfect day to pull off the big surprise. As they were getting ready to leave, Mitch checked the Jersey City weather forecast one last time... Suddenly, thunderstorms were predicted to be rolling through, threatening to ruin the outdoor proposal planned for sunset. En route, Mitch tried to keep his cool while strategizing a plan B, but fortunately, the storm had passed moments before they arrived at the scene. When they parked, Mitch informed Ilana that they had arrived early, so he suggested they walk over to see the panoramic view of downtown Manhattan from the nearby, beautiful, Liberty State Park. They looked out into the distance, and when Ilana turned around, Mitch was down on one knee, asking for her hand in marriage. Ilana shouted “YES!". What followed were two more surprises - a professional photoshoot, and their families meeting them for a picnic and a champagne toast to celebrate the occasion. It was an extraordinary day that Mitch and Ilana will cherish forever!
