How we met

Ok... Cupid!!

Who says you can't find love on the internet? Thomas and Ijah were on a dating website, looking for the one! After disappointing prospects in her area, Ijah decided to push her location to include Indianapolis. That's when she saw Thomas's profile. Of course, he caught her eye but it was his profile that intrigued her, with a fine balance of self-promotion, cynicism, and 1980s wit, she decided to message him. Thomas had all but given up on finding love when he received a message from Ijah. After looking over Ijah's profile, some witty banter between the two, and little fear of waking up in a tub of ice with one less kidney, he decided to ask her out. They met at Juanita's Mexican Restaurant in Bloomington. Thomas picked a table as he waited for Ijah's fashionably late arrival (the detail of Ijah being late is still up for debate for the two of them). After a hug, they sat down, not looking at their menus for hours despite the server's repeated attempts to take their orders. Time and space was nonexistent as they were lost in conversations that now neither remember (also up for debate). After nearly three hours they finally ordered their meals, then continued to to talk for an additional two hours. It wasn't until the mosquitoes became unbearable and the ever-increasing volume of odd music that they ended the date. After a tighter and a bit longer hug, Ijah and Thomas reluctantly said goodnight. That week, they would have another two dates. The third being at McCormick's Creek State Park which would become a very special place for the two. During that date, while hiking up the creek, Thomas offered Ijah his hand for the first time to help her over a log.. or some rocks (this is also up for debate in their home), Ijah took his hand and they continued holding hand for much of the hike. Fast- forward five years, Thomas asked for Ijah's hand in marriage on the same trail in the middle of the creek, where they will be married on June 1st, 2024.
