On a snowy winter night in December of 2007, two ladies braved the highways of Brooklyn and the Bronx only to roughly navigate the unfamiliar streets of Astoria, Queens. They finally made it to a mutual friend and coworker's birthday bash. I was one of those ladies and it was on this night I met Kurt, the best friend of the birthday girl's boyfriend. To this day we credit, Michelle, the lady that drove me to the party and Kurt's friend Raymond and my friend Solange for having a party that enabled us to meet, fall in love and become partners for life..

During one of the most historically devastating years of our lives, Kurt managed to still make me feel like the luckiest girl in the world. To my genuine surprise Kurt proposed on Christmas morning, in front of my parents and daughter. He hid a photocopy of my engagement ring taped to the back of one of my Christmas presents, The Witcher for PS4...... I initially ignored the paper taped to the back of the game. My mother, who was in on the surprise, had to convince me to look at this piece of paper. As opened it, I noticed Kurt standing and walking towards me with what appeared to be a ring box.....I am totally shocked at this point. And with my mouth wide open in shock Kurt got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I screamed, "YES"! What a great way to end this crazy year of 2020!! Can't wait to finally become a Douglas! Can't wait to celebrate with you all!
