We are finally having our wedding!!!

We met at the Igbo union meeting in Las Vegas New Mexico, Sometime in February 2019. She was wearing a denim shirt and a jean trouser. Her appearance was simple yet more appealing to my eyes. Looking into her eyes was more like looking into my future, and it was bright. Although she was enjoying the Nigerian jollof rice and pepper soup in a small bowl. I keep wondering how a lady that grew up in America can eat a portion of spicy food with ease. I stared mouth agape as if hypnotized, moisture disappeared from my lips because my mouth was open. When my eyes gazed upon her face, I noticed her well-shaped lips that look soft as a baby’s palm, my whole body shook. I mistakenly emptied my drink on my body. After the meeting, I decided to make a move.

It was the morning of my birthday, we woke up early with plans for birthday festivities in Albuquerque. We arranged our things and I went down stair to keep a few things in the car. I went back to the apartment, unaware that a surprise was waiting for me. When I opened the door, I saw a cake placed on the center table with a picture of my face on it. I looked around the room and saw Emeka and his friends coming out from the bedroom sing happy birthday to me. I was so surprised and very happy. Emeka then started talking “happy birthday my love” he said, with a big smile on his face. “You have taught my heart to love and my face to smile again,” He said. “I believe we are compatible in every way, you make me feel complete and loved, the jokes, the laughter that came along, the silly fights and playful moment we both shared over the months we have been together as friends” He said. He knelt, placed his hand inside his right pocket and brought out a small box. He opened it looked straight into my eyes and said, “As we go out to celebrate your birthday, may we celebrate as fiancé and fiancée not as girlfriend and boyfriend anymore.” The applause from the background brought me back to reality. “I am confused right now,” I said avoiding his gaze. He held my hands tightly and asked me to join him in the journey of love we both started some months back. I said Yes and he placed the ring on my finger and kissed me.
