Flights & arriving in Mexico City

For Austin residents, AeroMexico provides direct flights to Mexico City. However, if you wish to book a cheaper flight, you can always fly out of San Antonio. Typically, you’ll save yourself a little over $100 per ticket, but you’ll also have to deal with having to park your car for an extended period of time. Once you arrive in Mexico City, I recommend using the taxi services offered inside the airport. It’s typically easier than getting an Uber at the airport.

Travel Note

Public Transit and/or Uber

If you wish to get around the city in a cheap and efficient manner, I’d recommend using the city’s Metro system. In order to use the Metro system, you’ll need to get a metro card, which can be purchased at your nearest bus stop. If you’re staying near the wedding venue, the nearest Metro stops will be located in Avenida de la Reforma. For those adventurous individuals who decide to use the Metro, I recommend using Google Maps to get around. However, if public transit is not your thang, your other option would be to use the Uber app to get around the city.

Travel Note

Hotel/Airbnb

Suggested neighborhoods: Colonia Cuauhtémoc, Juarez, Roma Norte, Zona Rosa, Roma, and La Condesa We typically stay at an Airbnb, but there are numerous hotels near the wedding venue as well. While you can find a place outside of the suggested neighborhoods, I’d still recommend staying close to the venue if this is your first time visiting the city. If you decide on an Airbnb, be aware that not every apartment will have an AC unit. Therefore, if you need one during your visit, make sure you read through all the Airbnb descriptions and find a place that suits your needs. Note: If you’re a light sleeper, get some earplugs. You’ll be staying on a very busy side of town, so expect noise throughout the night.

Other Tips/Suggestions

• Bring comfortable shoes! You’ll be walking a lot, and by the end of the day, your legs, calves, and toes will hurt. • A popular destination is Frida Kahlo’s house. In order to visit the site, make sure to purchase your tickets weeks in advance using the following website: o Link: Boletos Museo Frida Kahlo (boletosfridakahlo.org) • Just be aware that you’re in a big city, so be aware of your surroundings. • Idaly and I will be there from Jan. 2 to Jan. 12, so if you have any questions or you’re a bit worried about walking around the city by yourself, we’d be happy to join you! 😊 o For those who still need it, here is my contact info:  Phone: 915-319-7263  Email: jcvarela929@gmail.com
