While in the Hudson Valley

The Wedding Website of Idalia Vélez and Christian Neto
We have lived in Newburgh most of our lives, and want to ensure our guests that the Hudson Valley has beautiful gems peppered along its landscape. We strongly suggest taking the Labor Day weekend to explore the area and take a break away from an everyday routine.

Dia

3 Beekman St, Beacon, NY 12508
, (845) 440 - 0100

Where modern art meets the Hudson River, DIA Beacon is one of the more popular attractions in this region. We enjoyed an afternoon here for free provided by the local library's museum pass a few years ago and enjoyed the whimsical (albeit jarring) sculptures available on the grounds. Currently the website indicates that reservations are required in advance.

Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site

84 Liberty Street, Newburgh, NY 12551
, (845) 562-1195

Another historic beautiful park in our region. Guided tours are cost efficient and the grounds are open to the public. Explore Liberty Street and the Newburgh Waterfront after the tour for a variety of restaurants and local shops.

West Point Museum

2110 New South Post Road, West Point, NY 10996
, (845) 938-3590

Go Army, beat Navy.

Pine Bush Museum

86 Main Street, Pine Bush, NY 12566

This area is known worldwide for its supposed paranormal and extraterrestrial activity. This museum is certainly a lot of fun and we strongly recommend visiting after getting a nice brunch at the nearby Cup and Saucer Diner.

Motorcyclepedia Museum

250 Lake Street, Newburgh, NY 12550
, (845) 569-9065

We went to this museum for Idi's birthday. Truly this collection is phenomenal.

Noches de Colombia Newburgh

16 North Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550
, (845) 565-5660

Great food, lots of fun. This restaurant usually has live performances!

Orange Hill Restaurant

82 New York 17K, Newburgh, NY 12550
, (845) 567-1400

For a nicer date, we strongly recommend Orange Hill. This restaurant has brunch deals on Sundays in the event some of our guests stay for the whole weekend.

Comparetto Bakery

20 Western Avenue, Marlboro, NY 12542
, (845) 236-4440

Our favorite homegrown Italian bakery; a great place to stop for a quick pastry and an awesome cup of coffee.

Ready Coffee

61 North Plank Road, Newburgh, NY 12550

Seriously the BEST coffee in Newburgh. This coffee stand is right by i-84 and is a drive through favorite. The coffee is locally ground by the owners and also serves smoothies, energy drinks, and tea. When you visit, say you're here for our wedding. The baristas know us by name we come here so often.

Round1 Bowling & Amusement

1 Galleria Drive, Middletown, NY 10941
, (845) 378-1100

A multi-entertainment facility featuring a massive arcade, pool, ping-pong, bowling, and a bar. We have lost many a nights wandering this facility for hours; the arcade features everything from classic pinball to Dance Dance Revolution. Seriously, this place is awesome.

Darkside Records

611 Dutchess Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603
, (845) 452-8010

If you miss an old fashioned music and video store, this place is amazing. This giant music store also doubles as a venue for local metal shows.

Water Street Market

10 Main Street, New Paltz, NY 12561
, (845) 255-1403

A gaggle of shops at the end of Main Street in New Paltz, NY. This area has all you could want or need in terms of whimsy. New Paltz is what Woodstock wants to be - swing by the Groovy Blueberry for any of your desired handcrafted hair bandannas, baja hoodies, and assortment of Volkswagen Beetle memorabilia.
