Consider this event more like a southern ball where there just happens to be a wedding. If there's any "taboo" you looked up on some cliché wedding website, please ignore it and wear whatever formal attire you think appropriate. Please note: We will have a coat check; please don't feel the need to freeze in the name of fashion.
We really love kids! However, to allow all of our guests, including parents, the chance to have an evening of relaxation, we request that the ceremony and reception be for older children and adults.
We have a strict guest list to stay on budget. Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.
We live in Illinois, so your guess is as good as ours. Please remember December 11th is OSU graduation and hotel rooms may be in short supply in Stillwater. More economical accommodations may also be found in Guthrie, Edmond, or Oklahoma City and will be less than an hour drive to the venue.
We have plans to accommodate vegetarian and gluten free guests. If you have special diet needs, please let Ian know and we will do our best to accommodate them.
We are registered at Zola (pssst....click the tab above) and have opted for a predominately cash-only registry. Because we are minimalists at heart, we've kept physical gifts to things that will last a lifetime. Or gift us an experience/home improvement project and we'll send you a photo of us enjoying that moment we'll remember forever.
Traditional Native Americans of Plains tribes often involve a blanket ceremony where the bride and groom's family wrap the couple to symbolize the unity of a new family. The blanket is then placed in the couple's home as a daily reminder of their vows. Since Mercedes is an avid quilter, we have opted for a quilt instead of a traditionally woven blanket. If you would like to contribute, ask Mercedes for more details.
