The world famous Stanley Hotel (www.stanleyhotel.com). Ceremony will be outdoors overlooking the Continental Divide (weather permitting) and the reception will be indoors in the Billiards Ballroom of the main building.
Stanley Hotel has been a landmark in Estes Park since 1913. It was opened by the inventor of the Stanley Steamer (car not carpet shampooer) as a resort for the wealthy recovering from tuberculosis. More recently it was made famous by Stephen King, who used it as the inspiration for his book and movie "The Shining".
All ages are welcome. Feel free to bring snacks and activities to keep them entertained during the boring adult portions but we aren't setting an age limit. We will update as it becomes clearer how many kids and what age ranges might be attending.
Michelle and Ian are looking to keep this a semi formal event. Not quite black tie, but suits and dresses would be acceptable. No fashion police will be present, however, so wearing white after Labor day is your option.
Ceremony is currently scheduled to begin at 2 PM and last roughly a half hour. Reception / Cocktails will begin at 3 PM with dinner served (buffet) around 430-500 PM. An open bar will be available with alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages available.
Third question first - yes. Colorado has over 300 days of sunshine a year. And November is typically still a bit mild. But we do appreciate the concern and recommend that you dress accordingly based on the forecast. If the weather is too inclement for outdoors, the Hotel gives us the option to move indoors and we will adjust the venue accordingly if needed.
Yes, the Stanley Hotel is a hotel after all. If you think you may indulge in too much spirits or just want a comfortable place to crash after all that dancing and mingling, The Stanley has offered us discounted rates on rooms for all wedding guests. See the "Travel" tab on the website to book a room. Maybe you'll get the one with axe marks on the door. And in all seriousness, please no drinking and driving. We love all of our friends and want everyone to get home the way they left.
Patience. You have to sit through the boring parts before the food is served. We are planning a full buffet dinner, consisting of chicken and salmon with an additional carving station for prime rib of beef. Salad and side dishes (potatoes and vegetables) will be offered as obviously cake for dessert. If there are any special dietary restrictions, I think Doordash can bring you your kale and quinoa. But seriously, let us know and we can work with you.
First of all, thank you. We appreciate the outpouring from all of our friends. The best gift would be if you could attend. But if you'd like to send a gift we are registered at Amazon and Bed, Bath and Beyond. We are also looking at designating a charity should you wish to donate in our name in lieu of a gift.
I am hoping you know one or both of us pretty well. But a little background Michelle has lived in northern Colorado (Ft Collins/Loveland area) her whole life. She's currently an medical assistant at an allergy clinic in Ft Collins. She likes flamingos and her favorite pizza topping is anchovies. Ian was born and grew up in Fairfield, Connecticut. His job as a civil engineer has taken him all over the country before landing in Loveland. He currently works for a general contractor out of Aurora on a project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He likes T-Rexes and his favorite cut of steak is ribeye. Michelle and Ian met through a dating app called Zoosk. Their first date was for coffee and they hit it off with each other from the beginning.
Honestly none...other than it was the first available Saturday date after Halloween. We both agreed to a Fall wedding in the mountains, hoping for some combination of tree colors and/or snowcapped peaks in the background. We hope to make it a special day for many years to come.
After much conversation on possible locales to enjoy our first days of married life, Michelle and Ian decided that we would postpone the more adventuring locations that involve a lot of sightseeing for later on, and utilize this opportunity to relax and unwind after what will likely be a busy few weeks. Therefore we decided a warm beach in a tropical jungle would be perfect, so we will be honeymooning in Costa Rica, at a coastal resort called Tulemar. If anyone has recommendations on low key things to see or do there, we are all ears.
