Flight
The Bay Area has several airports (SFO, OAK, SJC) but SFO is the largest and easiest airport with all major airlines flying in as well as numerous rental car companies on site to choose from. SFO is located approximately 1.5 hours from Carmel-by-the-Sea, depending on traffic.
Flight
SJC is located just over an hour from Carmel. While this airport offers numerous domestic flight options from various airlines, please note there may not be as many flight times.
Travel Note
Looking for a closer airport? The Monterey Regional Airport is located about 15 minutes from Carmel-by-the-Sea, with both American Airlines and United Airlines flying into this airport. Flights here are typically more expensive so we recommend flying into one of the major airports in the Bay Area, renting a car, driving down the coast to enjoy the beautiful landscape!
