Like many couples these days, we met online - on Tinder, to be exact. If you're familiar with Tinder, you'll understand why we feel so lucky to have met each other on there! We first met in person in July 2017 but finally became a couple in April 2018 after a fun night out with friends at a bar called 2 Pierrots in the Old Port of Montreal. Ian proposed on October 17th, 2021 during our annual fall bike ride to Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. After a few setbacks (Ian's scouted locations were wrecked by an unexpected marathon and a newly built fence), we got engaged next to the water outside the adorable Baie d'Urfé City Hall (photo below). It was so perfect that not even the pouring rain, a flat bike tire, and a long, damp walk home afterward could ruin it. As Ian said in his proposal, life has its ups and downs. We have enjoyed travelling together to bucket list destinations like the Amalfi Coast, Italy, and to more unique destinations like Omaha, Nebraska. We have cycled thousands of kilometres around Montreal to see all this beautiful city has to offer, while dealing with the occasional downpour, flat tire or broken toe... We've celebrated birthdays with homemade cheesecakes and finishing the work week with takeout from our favourite restaurants. We've also supported each other through two years of pandemic lockdowns, navigating caring for and saying goodbye to our senior diabetic cat Sven, losing loved ones, stressful job transitions, and missing our family and friends scattered around the world. We know we have many more highs and lows ahead of us, and we can't wait to tackle it all together as husband and wife. Thank you for being by our side as we kick off the rest of our lives together. Here's to what will be one heck a party with our incredible family and friends! Love, Ian & Leanne
