I wish I could say that we bumped into each other at a grocery store or ran into each other at a bar and it was love at first sight, but it was actually love at first swipe. Who knew swiping right would whisk us away on a journey of a lifetime. The conversation flowed seamlessly and before we knew it, we were on our first date. I will forever appreciate Ian's patience because I was 40 minutes late to our first date which was paddle boarding on the lake. Then we went to an amazing Jamaican food truck and had some jerk chicken. The first date felt easy, like I was talking to a best friend. Then we had a few more dates and before I knew it, my travel nursing contract in Texas was coming to an end and I had just accepted a new contract in Napa, California. At this point we were not sure if we were ready to put a label on our relationship, but I just knew I wanted to keep talking to him. A week later after I settled down in Napa, he knew that he could not stay away which meant showing up at the front door of my RV. We lived in a small RV in someone's yard and we decided that if we could survive living in this RV together, we could do anything. I am forever grateful that he decided to take the leap and come with me on my travel assignment. The rest is history. Ian has been able to join me on multiple travels (the joys of working from home) and we maintained the intermittent long distance relationship. On our trip to Japan, April 30, 2025 Ian decided to get down on one knee to ask the nerve-wracking question. He mustered up all of his courage and asked the most important question of a lifetime "will you marry me?". The answer was always obvious to me and I replied with, "yes, of course". We had a kind Japanese women take some pictures of us to record our engagement forever and even had Japanese high school students cheering for us. It was a beautiful start to the next chapter of our lives. Ian is the most patient, kind, and thoughtful man who deserves the world and I appreciate everyone reading until the end of how we met. Cheers to forever and thank you for attending our special day.
