Heather's Version: On May 1st, 2024, I was randomly scrolling through Instagram (thankfully with my sound on), and scrolled past a post that caught my attention. It was playing a folk song about Heaven, and there was a cute guy walking by a lake holding a guitar, so, naturally, I had to investigate. And it turned out that the cute guy was none other than Ian Austin. I decided to add some of his music to a playlist that I manage on Spotify and I messaged him to let him know. Fast forward a few months later, I ended up hiring Ian to be my producer for one of my songs, we had a "business" FaceTime call that ended up being 2 hours long, and it wasn't long after that that I realized that God had orchestrated the most perfect match for me. For years, people were worried that I would never find someone that met what I was looking for in a spouse, but God works miracles because Ian is everything I prayed for and more. Ian's Version: After getting connected through my music on Instagram, and finding out that Heather too was a Christian music artist, I reached out to her to see if she wanted my help recording her next songs. I was hoping she would hire me as her music producer, but, to my dismay, she turned me down because apparently I was too pricey (as I found out later). A few months after that, maybe out of desperation, she did agree to try me out. From there, we had a "strictly business" FaceTime call about her song that changed my life. I do admit, I was very curious if she was single and excited about the call for more than just business reasons. Even still, I tried to stifle these ulterior motives by telling myself, "she's just a client" and "you're crazy, stop acting so unprofessional." This didn't last for long though. About halfway through our call, we just naturally started getting to know each other, and even started to share our life dreams. I'll never forget what she said when I asked what hers were. "I want to marry a Christian music artist and be a stay at home mom" she replied. I couldn't believe it. I'd never heard such a beautiful statement come out of a woman's mouth. I'd spent the last year or so very intentionally praying to meet a spouse who I could do music with. Not to mention, one who also wanted to be a homemaker. So, being nervous about showing her my cards too early, I attempted to contain my excitement, and told her that I wanted to do music as a job, and also do ministry at a church. But I strategically left out the part about wanting to make music with my future wife. (Heather here: which caused me to think that he wanted to be single for the rest of his life! Thankfully, that was soon cleared up. Okay, back to Ian's story...) After that call, I couldn't get her off my mind. She was so easy to talk to. She was funny, beautiful, and godly - how could I forget about her? As we got to know each other more, it became clear that God's hand was in it, and He had given us both the answer to our prayers and so much more. It's truly amazing to be caught up in this incredible thing that the Lord is doing. "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." Psalm 37:4 P.S. I (Heather) am aware that Ian's story showed mine up. And I'm not even mad about it...
