How Did We Meet?

Ian and I have known each other for as long as I can remember. It all began back in our awkward stages in 6th grade at Cabot Middle School North, where we were placed in the same homeroom class. We were very close back then--even best friends, and spent a lot of time together with a common group of kids. Then, junior high rolled around. We developed more than just a friendship, and mutually knew that there was something between us. However, as time went on, we grew apart and went separate ways as we got caught up with our own new circle of friends. Life changed. We both graduated high school, and went off to colleges several hours away from one another; at this point, we hadn't spoken since the 9th grade. Fast forwarding to sophomore year of college, I got the urge to send Ian a "Happy Easter" message (as I did to many people), not expecting anything to come of it. Little did I know that day would change our life, would finally put our relationship back together again for good this time. We picked back up right where we left off, talked daily and have been inseparable ever since.

The Proposal- November 21, 2017

First comes school, then comes marriage!

After I graduated from college, I landed a teaching job back in our hometown of Cabot, AR. Ian and I decided that we were tired of living in and out of apartments, so we began building our first home very close to where I work. During my week off during Thanksgiving break, we closed on our house and began to move in! After a very long day of moving furniture and decorating the house, Ian mentioned he needed to go to his parents to work on school work since we did not have internet yet; I am exhausted so I decide to take a nap on the couch and wait on him to get back. 10 P.M comes, and he returns home. He comes inside, and asks me to come over to where he is standing in the kitchen. Mind you, I just woke up and am looking a mess! I walk over to him, confused and he drops down to one knee. He opens a little black box to reveal a GORGEOUS diamond ring, and before he could even ask, I was already telling him yes! At this point, I realize he didn't do homework at his parents after all. He pops open a bottle of champagne as we celebrate our new home, new engagement, and the start of our new lives together!
