( January 2015) We met in college, which was the second semester of Liz's freshmen year and Ian's junior year . Some of our mutual friends introduced us while we were at a party. I don't know what it was but something within me kept saying this is a guy you need to meet. Little did we know this is how our love story would begin! From there we just hit it off. (March 2015) Approximately two months later, Ian asked me to be his girlfriend. Not having anything to lose and feeling like this could be something special I said yes. Fast forward three years and here we are getting married! Throughout the years we have had lots of opportunities to get to know each other better throughout the few years we were at college together. In fact, one of those opportunities was out on the football field. (In 2016) I was a cheerleader cheering Ian on while he was out on the football field. I even got to travel with the team and see Ian play his heart out on the field. I don't know if it was more distracting or encouraging for him. Over the next few years, we got to spend more time together going on vacations to Florida together and taking in some baseball games. We even endured a two week long distance relationship while I was in Africa. (In 2017) Ian got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. (Little did I know most of our family and friends had heard about this but I was the only one who hadn't). Read below for the proposal story. At approximately the year and a half mark of dating, I knew this was a relationship that was special. It was one I wanted to hold onto. Even my family members were telling me to hold onto this one because he's a keeper. Ian's patience, kindness and compassion were all the things I needed in a boyfriend who has a girlfriend going through nursing school. He has been my biggest supporter and I can't thank him enough.
We were at my house for a weekend family get together in which both of our families were getting to know each other better. After lunch, Ian said let's go outside and get a picture since we are dressed up nicely. After a little persuasion I went along with it and we headed outside. When we started to take pictures, my sister and Ian both told me to take off my sunglasses. However, me being the persistent thing I am and not knowing what was going on I did not want to take off those glasses. Finally, my sister came and removed them from my face and when she did Ian was down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Of course I said yes!
