Things to avoid: - Parque Lleras - Public transportation - Cell phones in hands - Headphones in public - Visible jewelry on the street - Flashy clothes/shoes - Nice watches - Holding cash in public - Watch your pockets - Avoid getting stopped by children on the street (usually linked with pickpockets) - Keep windows up in cars when traveling, especially at red lights
- Don't drink from the tap - Avoid ice if possible - Use bottled water to brush your teeth
- Rappi is your best friend (Uber Eats but with many more offerings including cash, pharmacy needs, groceries, etc.) - Don't exchange cash in the airport - much better conversion rate at ATMS in the city
- Airport to El Poblado: Ubers are not allowed at the airport & taxis don't take credit cards so withdraw approx. 160,000 COP to be safe. If you are staying in El Poblado, your taxi should cost 120,000 COP. However, when traveling home, it is easy to take an Uber to the airport. - We encourage you to walk around & explore the city but please keep in mind the city is on the side of a mountain so wear sneakers & drink lots of water. The altitude is 4,905 ft. - Taxis take cash only - Ubers: take Uber Comfort instead of UberX (much nicer & negligible price difference)
