Smithsonian National Zoological Park
One of our favorite places in the city! Please note, visitor passes are free but may not be available for the weekend of October 17 until September.
Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
A wonderful national park with options for historical sights, beautiful hikes, and excellent viewpoints. Note: we highly recommend ending your trip at the Harpers Ferry Brewing for a beautiful view of the Potomac River.
International Spy Museum
Super fun museum for adults and kids! Keep an eye out for any special exhibits that may be available. Note: this is not a Smithsonian museum so tickets do need to be purchased and may run out.
National Mall and Smithsonian Museums
A great destination in DC for sightseeing and museums! Many museums and memorials are accessible from the mall which is at the Smithsonian stop on the DC metro.
Reston Town Center
A local town center close to the hotels and where we live. We highly recommend for a leisurely afternoon of shopping and delicious food options!
